In her speech, LMB Director Emelyne Talabis highlights the importance of technology in improving their services. “LMB and the land sector of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) should really level up on this [technology] aspect. LMB, being the Bureau that provides staff support to DENR needs to upgrade every survey equipment including the capability of our people in using this high level of technology… The use of drones is the first big step we are taking towards this direction,” Director Talabis said.

For over a year, LMB, TAF and FEF have been working together in exploring the use of drones as a cost-effective and time-efficient instrument for land surveying.

The Technology for Property Rights Project is implemented by FEF and TAF, with the support of Omidyar Network. The project aims to address poor titling situation by promoting policies, partnerships and technologies. One of the components of the project pushes for a policy on using drones as an additional instrument for conducting land surveys.
