Orientation on the Titling of Government Lands and School Sites held

The Foundation for Economic Freedom (FEF) held its first Orientation on DENR Administrative Order (DAO) 2016-21 or Guidelines governing the processing of requests for proclamations and issuance of special patents over agricultural lands last February 16 in Cebu City. The event aims to familiarize the participants with the new rules and regulations on the titling of government lands.

The orientation was attended by officials and  representatives of universities and local colleges in Region 7, DepEd Region 7, DENR Region 7, CENRO, PENRO, and assessors from the provinces and municipalities of Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor and Negros Oriental.

Atty. George Katigbak, Senior Policy Consultant of FEF served as the resource speaker. He discussed he rules and requirements on the titling of school sites under DAO 2015-01 were discussed in the morning session. The afternoon session focused on the titling of government lands under DAO 2016-21.

The orientation is just one of the activities of FEF under its Partnership for Land Rights and Governance Project supported by Australian Embassy – The Asia Foundation Partnership in the Philippines. The project seeks to scale titling, provide models for LGU land governance, address the restrictions to foster more efficient land markets, and improve access to land information to market players.
